HARRISBURG, Pa. — Safeway, Publix and Winn-Dixie are among the winners of this year’s National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association Golden Penguin awards. All three chains won in the Retail Corporate Chain or Division (over 50 stores) category. NFRA honored 25 Gold Penguin winners and 43 Silver Penguin winners from across the country in 12 different retail categories. Other winners included Wegmans, Crossroads County Market and Jewel-Osco. The competition recognizes merchandising efforts for the 5th annual June Dairy Month promotion. A tie-in with Sony Animations’ movie “Surf’s Up” accompanied the promotion. The awards will be presented Oct. 16 at the 2007 NFRA’s convention in San Antonio.
