Hannaford Helps Vermont With Irene Aftermath

SCARBOROUGH, Maine — Hannaford Supermarkets has donated $10,000 to the Vermont Foodbank and contributed bottled water, food, ice and other products to help residents of areas impacted by Hurricane Irene.

“Thank you Hannaford Supermarkets for your very generous donation,” the Vermont Food bank states on its Facebook page.

The donation comes after flooding devastated areas of the state, requiring emergency workers to airlift food and water to thousands of residents stranded after floodwaters washed out roads and bridges.

In other news, Hannaford has reopened its Bennington, Vt., store after the cleanup from storm-related flooding was completed. The store was Hannaford’s only unit that remained closed as of Aug. 29.
