INDIANAPOLIS -- Marsh Supermarkets here is rolling out this month a co-branded credit card that offers consumers a 1% rebate on all purchases made at Marsh or elsewhere.

> Co-branded cardholders will have access to all other functions of Marsh's Fresh IDEA (Instant Discounts Electronically Applied) program, including check-cashing and video-rental privileges.

"The Fresh IDEA Visa card is designed to respond to consumers' growing use of credit in our stores by combining our loyalty card and a credit card into one," said Don Marsh, chairman and chief executive officer, in a statement.

Marsh estimated more than 400,000 consumers are enrolled in its frequent shopper program throughout its 79 stores.

The card is co-sponsored by Visa International, San Mateo, Calif., and National City Bank, Evansville, Ind.
