Publix Retailer Wins Sweepstakes

The prize package included four tickets to the Super Bowl game, air transportation and hotel accommodations for four nights at the Atlanta Hilton & Towers and a special party.
For every 2,500 cases of Angeleno plums purchased during the sweepstakes, Sun World issued its customer one entry blank. The winning ticket was drawn from 146 qualified entries.
Ron Hill, Sun World's sales representative to Publix, also received a prize package for two.
Sun World here, grows and markets more than 75 fresh fruit and vegetable varieties.
Mann Packing Extends Wokly Line
SALINAS, Calif. -- Mann Packing Co. here has extended its line of value-added, fresh-cut vegetables with Broccoli Wokly Stir Fry.
The new blend of broccoli florettes, carrots, celery and snap peas are packed in 1-pound bags, nine to a carton, and are available for national distribution.
In addition to broccoli items, Mann Packing is the supplier of more than 30 fresh vegetable commodities to retail and food-service outlets.
Produce, Floral Council Slates Expo
PASADENA, Calif. -- The Fresh Produce & Floral Council will hold its 1994 Retail Produce Expo and Fresh Perspectives seminars at the Pasadena Center on May 10.
"With the rapidly exploding boom in precut produce items, and the tremendous movement in other growth categories in retail produce departments, the Retail Produce Expo promises to be an exciting time for us all," said Larry Cox, Expo chairman and vice president of produce for Lucky Stores.
The one-day event will be launched with a general breakfast session featuring former National League all-star baseball player Steve Garvey.
Educational sessions will follow. Topics are expected to include proactive marketing of fresh produce to consumers and personal development as a means to bring about sterling professional performance.
The event also will include an exposition, showcasing the products of some 100 marketers.
