Pathmark Sponsors Choir Competition
Top choirs will compete in the ninth annual Pathmark Gospel Choir Competition in New York City tomorrow, Feb. 28. Pathmark is the title sponsor of the event, which will award $10,000 in prizes in honor of Black History Month.

MONTVALE, N.J. — Top choirs will compete in the ninth annual Pathmark Gospel Choir Competition in New York City tomorrow, Feb. 28.
Pathmark is the title sponsor of the event, which will award $10,000 in prizes in honor of Black History Month. Choirs from churches, organizations, schools, unions and/or corporations will compete for prizes in two divisions.
Competitors in the Youth Division (all members must be 18 and under) will get $1,000 for the first prize; $600, second; and $400, third. Prizes for the Open Division include the $5,000 Grand Prize, $2,000 Second Prize and $1,000 Third Prize. Participating choirs come from Metro New York as well as many other states plus a choir from Quebec.
The event will be held at the World Financial Center Winter Garden, and broadcast on television and radio. General Mills, Kimberly-Clark, ConAgra and Unilever are among the manufacturer sponsors who will give out samples and coupons.
