LOS ANGELES — Packages of Pop Secret popcorn will soon bear a numeric code that can be punched into microwaves that leverage TrueCookPlus software for optimal heating.

TrueCookPlus assigns individual products a numeric code so that the microwave’s heating mechanism and timer can adjust accordingly. The code accounts for variables like altitude, wattage, temperature and power levels.

Rather than enter a heating time, consumers just enter the product's code.

“When consumers punch in the TrueCookPlus code, their popcorn will cook evenly, eliminating concerns about burning and reducing the number of unpopped kernels,” said TrueCookPlus in a statement.
