ST. LOUIS — Value-oriented grocer Save-A-Lot is retaining the name Bubba Cola for its private-label carbonated soft drink.

It made the decision after putting the brand name up to vote in an online consumer poll earlier this year.

The chain recently tallied the votes and found that shoppers like the “memorable” and “distinctive” name. “Voters told us, 'It's catchy and easy to remember,’ and, ‘It's been Bubba Cola since I was a kid,’” Save-A-Lot said on its website.

Several even said the name brought a smile to their faces. “So the cola brand you know and love isn't going anywhere. And we have our loyal Save-A-Lot shoppers to thank for that,” according to Save-A-Lot.
