The farm-raised seafood is cleaned, cut and fresh-frozen within hours of being harvested and available in six varieties: Spicy Shrimp Romesco; Lemon Shrimp with Garlic & Herbs; Salmon with Garden Pesto; Salmon with Garlicky Black Pepper & Extra Virgin Olive Oil; Tilapia with Lemon, Pepper & Herbs; and Tilapia with Garlic & Extra Virgin Olive Oil. “Look at our ingredient statement,” Chris Lischewski, president and CEO of San Diegobased Bumble Bee Foods, tells Grocery Headquarters. “We contain five to seven ingredients, including sea salt, lemon zest and garlic. We spoke to 28,000 consumers developing this line and consumers preferred farm-raised salmon over wild, and tilapia over Pacific cod.” The line is packed in 9.2-ounce to 10.4-ounce gusseted bags and has a suggested retail of $8.99 or $9.99, depending upon variety. The shrimp contain seasoning medallions and are simply sautéed on the stovetop, while each fish fillet comes with its own baking parchment to seal in the flavor and juices and is easily prepared in the oven. The introduction is being backed by a $15 million ad campaign, Lischewski says. The line is initially being rolled out in the Northeast, with expectations to go nationally in the future.
