GARLAND, Texas — A Save-A-Lot grocery store here on Friday welcomed noted Texas chef Tim Love, who provided a chili cooking demonstration and a recipe for shoppers.

Love, who operates the acclaimed Fort Worth restaurant Lonesome Dove Western Bistro and has appeared on television programs Top Chef Masters and Iron Chef America, created the chili recipe especially for the chain, which has published it on its web site.

The chili was available at all 12 Save-A-Lot stores in the Dallas area Friday, the company said.

In conjunction with the event, Save-A-Lot, a discount division of Supervalu, Minneapolis, contributed chili ingredients and $1,000 to the SoupMobile soup kitchen, which feeds the homeless in North Texas.
