Mediterranean cuisine manufacturers Kronos Foods and Grecian Delight Foods have merged portfolios to what they said will better serve the retail foodservice industries.

The merger will allow Grecian Delight and Kronos—both of which offer new services, product lines and an increased capacity—to bring new innovations to market, the companies said.

“This is a partnership that has been 30 years in the making,” said Peter Parthenis Jr., president and CEO of Grecian Delight. “Now, two great organizations are coming together with a unified goal of putting our customers in a better position to succeed by delivering even more value-added products and services. This new model will help us better serve our respective foodservice, retail and club store customers and meet their individual needs.”

Parthenis has been named CEO of the newly formed company.

“This merger will allow Grecian Delight and Kronos to accelerate growth into global cuisine and protein-based foods—both significant trends within the food sector,” said Mark Burgett, managing partner with Entrepreneurial Equity Partners, a food and consumer packaged goods equity firm involved in the merger. “We are excited to leverage our extensive network and experience in the food sector to support growth and introduce new product offerings.”

Glendale Heights, Ill.-based Kronos Foods Corp. produces Mediterranean cuisine for convenience stores, restaurants, supermarkets, universities, military bases and recreation venues. Its products include gyros cones, naan, pita, hummus, tzatziki, falafel, kebabs and more.

“By combining our businesses and resources, customers will benefit from even more quality protein, plant-based foods, bakery offerings and exciting globally inspired flavors from one trusted source,” Parthenis said. “We’re eager to meet and exceed the expectations of the food industry with flavorful, on-trend dishes, sauces and spreads.”

Elk Grove Village, Ill.-based Grecian Delight Foods markets and manufactures Greek and Mediterranean food products for convenience stores, supermarkets, specialty and warehouse club businesses. Its products include pita pockets, naan, hummus, Greek yogurt dips, gyros cones, shawarma and more.
