Meyers out as SpartanNash CFO
Company cites “personal reasons”; Van Hall back as interim CFO
Chris Meyers, who became CFO of SpartanNash a little more than a year ago, is resigning from the distributor effective July 14.
Spartan in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission said Meyers was leaving for “personal reasons but included no further detail on the circumstances of his resignation.
The company said its board has named Thomas Van Hall to serve as interim CEO while it searches for a replacement. Van Hall previously served as Spartan’s VP of finance from 2001 until July 2015, during which time he oversaw the operations of the finance department, including retail, distribution and corporate accounting; SEC reporting and compliance; budgeting/forecasting; tax planning and compliance; and financial shared services operations.
Van Hall also led the integration management for the merger of Spartan Stores and Nash Finch. Van Hall retired in 2015.
Meyers joined SpartanNash last April from KeHe Distributors, where he was also CFO. At SpartanNash he succeeded Dave Staples after Staples was promoted to COO. Staples since ascended to CEO as part of a planned succession.
