A spokeswoman for Delhaize, based in Salisbury, N.C., confirmed that Donald Ciotti left the company this month but declined to comment further as a matter of policy. She said Delhaize was actively recruiting for a replacement for Ciotti, who held the role of director of operations for Bottom Dollar for more three years, while the chain expanded throughout the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh regions.

A social media profile for Ciotti indicates he is now director of operations of Good Cents Grocery More, Giant Eagle’s discount banner. A Giant Eagle spokesman was not immediately available for comment.

Good Cents Grocery debuted late last year as a new evolution of the Valu King discount stores Giant Eagle was operating in some Ohio markets. Giant Eagle currently operates Good Cents stores in Pittsburgh — where it made news last year for opening adjacent to a newly opened Bottom Dollar store — and in Eastlake, Ohio.

Bottom Dollar, which on Thursday opened new stores in Homestead, Pa., and in Souderton, Pa., now operates 58 stores.

Ciotti formerly worked as a regional vice president for Wal-Mart Stores, overseeing the retailer's stores in Pennsylvania and Western New York, and was a former director of marketing and district manager for Safeway and Genuardi’s Family Markets, according to SN archives and social media sites.
