WASHINGTON — The National Retail Federation confirmed a report that David Hogan, who has served as its chief information officer and senior vice president of retail operations since 2002, is leaving the association.

Hogan is still consulting for the NRF as an executive technology advisor, and expects to leave around April, NRF confirmed.

His impending departure, which was not formally announced by the NRF, was reported last week in StoreFrontBackTalk.com, which quoted him as saying he was leaving to find “a more traditional industry” job.

Hogan directed numerous internal and retail industry IT initiatives for NRF and managed NRF's CIO Council. He also provided oversight for the Association for Retail Technology Standards (ARTS), in addition to NRF's loss prevention and sustainability initiatives. He has been a leading critic of the PCI Data Security Standard imposed on retailers by the credit card associations.

Prior to joining NRF, Hogan served as vice president and CIO of Duty Free Americas. He also held senior level positions with The Limited, serving as business unit CIO for its Lane Bryant division, and worked as vice president of MIS for specialty footwear retailer The Kobacker Company.
