SAVE MART'S PRESIDENT AND COO RETIRES, AGAIN
MODESTO, Calif. — Bob Spengler, president and chief operating officer of Save Mart Supermarkets here, has announced his plans to retire as of last week. Spengler first retired from the company in December 2005 and then returned to his post the following October to lead the acquisition of the Albertsons LLC Northern California Division. Over the past year he oversaw the conversion of 130 Albertsons stores to Save Mart's banners, including bringing back the Lucky banner to the San Francisco Bay Area.
STATER BROS. PROMOTES FRAHM, MCINTYRE TO EVP
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — Longtime Stater Bros. employees George Frahm and Dennis McIntyre have been promoted to new positions, the retailer here said last week. Frahm, who joined Stater Bros. in 1973, has been promoted to executive vice president of retail operations. Frahm most recently was group senior vice president of retail operations. McIntyre was named executive vice president of marketing. He joined Stater in 1978 and most recently was senior vice president of marketing.
AG NEW ENGLAND NAMES FELTON DIVISION HEAD
PEMBROKE, N.H. — Stephen Felton has been promoted to general manager of Associated Grocers of New England's new convenience store division. “We've significantly expanded our services and expertise to meet the particular needs of convenience retailers in recent years,” said AG New England President and Chief Executive Officer Mike Bourgoine. “Stephen has made a significant impact as our convenience store sales manager since 2005.” Felton came to AG New England after more than 20 years with 7-Eleven in multiple areas of responsibility, including operations manager; he is also a former store owner and operator.
