WEIS MARKETS NAMES HEPFINGER PRESIDENT, COO
SUNBURY, Pa. — Weis Markets here last week said it has named David J. Hepfinger, a 32-year veteran of Schenectady, N.Y.-based Price Chopper, to be the company's new president and chief operating officer. Norman Rich, who had been president and chief executive officer, will continue as CEO of Weis, which operates 155 supermarkets in five states and 31 SuperPetz stores. Hepfinger, 49, will oversee day-to-day operations; perishable and Center Store marketing, merchandising and procurement; pharmacy; distribution; human resources; and store support services. He most recently was senior vice president of retailing and administration at Price Chopper. That position has been eliminated, a Price Chopper spokeswoman told SN.
PRICE CHOPPER PROMOTES GOLUB, KELLY TO NEW POSTS
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Price Chopper here said yesterday it has promoted two executives. Jerry Golub, who most recently had been senior vice president of sales and merchandising, was promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer. Joseph Kelly, who most recently was vice president of merchandising, was promoted to vice president, sales and merchandising.
FANTOZZI ELEVATED TO EVP, COO AT WHITE ROSE
CARTERET, N.J. — Wholesaler White Rose Foods here said it has promoted Joseph Fantozzi to executive vice president and chief operating officer. He had recently been a senior vice president in the company's dairy division before joining the corporate office. The 30-year White Rose veteran had also held “an assortment” of other positions in the company, White Rose said. He will be involved in “managing day-to-day activities of the corporation, focusing on the strategic, tactical, long- and short-term operational management of all marketing, purchasing and logistic functions,” according to a company statement. He will continue to report to Steve Bokser, president and chief executive officer.
