MAC NAUGHTON IS EVP AT WAL-MART

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Wal-Mart Stores here last week said it has named Duncan Mac Naughton, a longtime supermarket industry executive, to be executive vice president of consumables, health and wellness and Walmart.com as part of a management realignment. Mac Naughton, who left Supervalu last year to become chief merchandising officer of Walmart Canada, will oversee one of four new merchandising divisions at Wal-Mart. The food area will continue to be run by Jack Sinclair, executive vice president. Working under him will be Steve Bratspies, senior vice president, dry grocery; DeDe Priest, senior vice president, fresh; Santiago Roces, senior vice president, grocery small formats; Steve Breen, senior vice president, snacks and drinks; and Bruce Nelson, vice president, planning, pricing and modular development. With the departure of Michael Lewis, Wal-Mart said it is consolidating all fresh and packaged grocery under one manager — Pam Kohn, senior vice president, who will assume responsibility for all global food and consumables, assisted by Andy Ruben as vice president, packaged goods/sourcing, and Rich Rothamel, vice president, product development. The other two core merchandising areas are general merchandise and replenishment, headed by John Westling, executive vice president, and soft lines, under Andy Barron, also executive vice president.

PUBLIX ELEVATES DIBENEDETTO TO VP

LAKELAND, Fla. — Publix Super Markets here said it has promoted Joseph DiBenedetto to vice president of its Atlanta Division, effective Jan. 1, 2011. DiBenedetto began his Publix career in 1975 as a front-service clerk in Cape Coral, Fla. He became a store manager in 1986 and district manager in 1992. He was also Publix's first district manager in South Carolina. He has been a regional director in the Atlanta Division since June 1995.
