BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Wal-Mart Stores here said it has named Andrea Thomas senior vice president of sustainability, succeeding Matt Kistler, who was named senior vice president of marketing operations for Walmart U.S., according to reports. Wal-Mart could not be reached for confirmation of the reports last week. Thomas most recently had been a senior vice president in the company's corporate brands operations. Kistler will report to Stephen Quinn, chief marketing officer, and will focus on local marketing initiatives, according to a report in Ad Age.
FAMILY DOLLAR TAPS MODLA FOR HR
MATTHEWS, N.C. — Family Dollar Stores here said it has named Jacob J. Modla vice president of human resources. He will report to Bryan Venberg, senior vice president of HR. Modla joined the company in 2004 as assistant general counsel and most recently was vice president and deputy general counsel. “Jake's legal expertise and experience will help ensure our compliance with rapidly changing laws and regulations and support our continued efforts to a more compelling place to work for our team members,” said Venberg.
CLINGAN NAMED TO OGA POST
COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Grocers Association here said it has named Kristin Clingan director of government relations. “With a broad range of public-policy experience, Kristin possesses excellent knowledge of both legislative and regulatory issues that are so important to our membership,” said Tom Jackson, president and chief executive officer, OGA. Clingan has been a legislative aide to former state Rep. Jim Mason, R-Columbus, and was a legislative liaison for the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.
