Harrison Named CIO at Delhaize U.S. 2009-04-20

Scott Harrison, senior vice president of technology and efficiency and chief information officer at Food Lion, has been promoted to the newly created position of CIO for Delhaize Group U.S., Food Lion's parent company. In this new role, Harrison will work with Food Lion and its sister chains Hannaford Bros. and Sweetbay to fulfill their IT needs.

SALISBURY, N.C. — Scott Harrison, senior vice president of technology and efficiency and chief information officer at Food Lion, has been promoted to the newly created position of CIO for Delhaize Group U.S., Food Lion's parent company. In this new role, Harrison will work with Food Lion and its sister chains Hannaford Bros. and Sweetbay to fulfill their IT needs. He will also oversee IT shared services, which includes supply chain solutions and IT infrastructure for Delhaize's U.S. companies. He will report to Terry Morgan, global CIO for Delhaize Group. Harrison launched his supermarket career at Hannaford in 1982 and joined Food Lion in 2000. Food Lion has not yet named a successor to Harrison.

GIANT NAMES PRICE CFO, LABIAN EVP

LANDOVER, Md. — Giant Food here last week said it has named Paula A. Price as chief financial officer and Paula Labian as executive vice president of human resources. The company, a division of Amsterdam-based Ahold, said the two appointments “complete the leadership team for Giant Food,” which last year named Carl Schlicker president and chief executive officer of both Giant-Landover and sister chain Stop & Shop, Quincy, Mass. Most recently, Price was senior vice president, controller and chief accounting officer at CVS/Caremark Corp., Woonsocket, R.I. She will succeed current CFO Jim Rojas, who had previously announced his plans to leave the company. Labian for the past six years has been chief human resources officer and global vice president of human resources for Whole Foods Market, Austin, Texas. She succeeds John Bussenger, who remains executive vice president of human resources at Giant Food Stores of Carlisle, Pa., who assumed the responsibilities on an interim basis.

SAM'S CLUB TAPS HEFNER AS EVP

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Sam's Club here said it has named Linda Hefner executive vice president of merchandising and replenishment, effective May 15, with responsibility for merchandising strategy, product development and sourcing. She will report to Brian Cornell, president and chief executive officer of Sam's Club. Hefner joined Sam's Club's parent company, Wal-Mart Stores, in 2007. She currently is executive vice president and general manager of the home-goods business.
