Heer Departs Food Emporium

Hans Heer, the European merchant who developed the high-end gourmet concept at A&P’s Food Emporium stores, has left the company, A&P said Friday.

MONTVALE, N.J. — Hans Heer, the European merchant who developed the high-end gourmet concept at A&P’s Food Emporium stores, has left the company, A&P said Friday.

Heer joined A&P in 2006 as general manager of Food Emporium, which operates stores in Manhattan. He previously created gourmet food offerings at premium food retailers such as Koufhauf Warenhous (Germany), Globus (Switzerland) and Harrods (United Kingdom).

“He has been an integral leader of our gourmet business, and we wish him well in all of his future endeavors,” Sam Martin, chief executive of A&P, said in a statement.

A&P said Dan Wodzenski, district manager of sales and operations for Food Emporium, and Food Emporium’s operations team will report directly to Paul Hertz, executive vice president of operations for A&P, effective immediately. In addition, the Food Emporium marketing and merchandising team will now report directly to Tom O’Boyle, executive vice president of A&P.
