Lindner Named NEW Vice Chair

CHICAGO — The Network of Executive Women here said Tuesday that Catherine Lindner, vice president of retail marketing for Walgreen Co., has been named vice chair of the association and will become board chair later this year.

CHICAGO — The Network of Executive Women here said Tuesday that Catherine Lindner, vice president of retail marketing for Walgreen Co., has been named vice chair of the association and will become board chair later this year.

Lindner (right) is slated to become the board chair when the term of the current board chair, Michelle Gloeckler of Wal-Mart Stores, expires in October. Outgoing Vice Chair Julie Hamilton, executive assistant to the chairman and chief executive officer of Coca-Cola Co., will become an at-large member of NEW’s board. Annie Zipfel, vice president of owned brands and packaging for Target Corp., will succeed Lindner as marketing chair on the Network's executive committee.

Lindner helped form NEW Chicago and has been the lead on the NEW 2020 project, the Network's strategic research and planning process designed to define its focus for the next decade.

"Catherine will continue to help NEW meet the needs of our members, and is especially able to represent the needs of our retail members," said NEW President and CEO Joan Toth. "Annie will focus of refining NEW’s brand positioning and the Network's social media outreach efforts."

Toth also saluted Hamilton's service to NEW: "Julie has helped with NEW's global outreach and will continue to be a resource for NEW's expansion globally and domestically," she said.
