POMPANO BEACH, Fla. - Associated Grocers of Florida said Wednesday it has named Christopher Miller president of the wholesale distribution company, based here.

Miller began his industry career 27 years ago with Bozzuto's, the Cheshire, Conn.-based wholesaler, and joined Associated 15 years ago as director of distribution. He has since worked in a variety of positions at the company, and has been chief operating officer for the past five years.

"We must continuously challenge ourselves and our processes to maximize our efficiencies for our stores and stockholders," Miller said in a prepared statement. "With our state-of-the-art distribution center and our cutting-edge IT department, we are operationally poised for continued growth in Florida, the Caribbean and Central and South America."

He succeeds his father, Calvin Miller, as president of the company. Calvin Miller remains chief executive officer.
