BRADFORD, United Kingdom — Belinda Youngs, who most recently served as chief marketing officer of Canadian grocery chain Sobeys, was named director of own brands by William Morrison Supermarkets here, Morrisons said.

Youngs, a native of England, joined Sobeys in 2004 and was appointed as its CMO in 2007. She also served on the retailer’s leadership committee. Youngs was credited with the development of Sobeys’ well-regarded private brand program, as well as the company’s brand-development and strategic business planning functions. Morrisons’ chief executive, Dalton Phillips, was appointed last year after serving with Canadian grocer Loblaw.

Sobeys wasn’t immediately available for comment.
