Stater Bros. names Ciraulo SVP, fresh foods
New role to expand perishables, develop healthy offerings
John Ciraulo has been promoted to SVP, fresh foods, for Stater Bros. Markets, the company said.
In this new role, Ciraulo will oversee and manage the interplay between perishable departments to expand convenient, affordable and high-quality fresh food offerings, the company said. He will report to Dennis McIntyre, EVP of marketing. Stater Bros.’ meat, seafood, produce, deli/bakery and fresh item management divisions will report to Ciraulo.
“John is a well-respected and valuable member of the Stater Bros. ‘Family,’” Pete Van Helden, Stater Bros. president and CEO, said in a statement. “John’s broad knowledge of perishable foods in addition to his extensive marketing and retail experience will allow the company to implement new programs and tailor our fresh offerings to meet the current and future needs of our valued customers.”
Ciraulo has been with Stater Bros. for more than 31 years in a range of retail and marketing positions. He most recently served as VP of the meat division, a position he held since 2014. Prior to that, Ciraulo served as a meat division marketing manager and a buyer/merchandiser, among other roles. He joined the company in 1986 as a meat clerk at its South Fontana location.
Ciraulo earned a vocational teaching credential from California State University, San Bernardino in 2001 and is an instructor for the Stater Bros. meat-cutting apprentice program. He is a 2006 graduate of the WAFC Retail Management Program at San Bernardino Valley College and the University of Southern California Food Industry Management Program. He holds a bachelor's degree in business management from the University of Phoenix and a master's degree in business management from the University of Redlands, and has completed the credential program for Certified Food Safety Professionals from the National Environmental Health Association. Ciraulo also teaches at Cerritos College.
Stater Bros., based in San Bernardino, operates 169 supermarkets in Southern California.
