BOISE, Idaho — WinCo Foods here said last week that David Strausborger, senior vice president of procurement and office administrator for its Woodburn, Ore., distribution center, will retire from the company after a 37-year career at the discount retailer, effective Aug. 9. Strausborger, 60, was hired to work in the stores in 1971, moved up through the management ranks and spent roughly the last 20 years as the senior procurement officer, with primary responsibility for WinCo's “Wall of Values.”
STENGEL TO RETIRE AS P&G MARKETER
CINCINNATI — Jim Stengel, 53, the widely known global marketing officer of Procter & Gamble Co. here, will retire on Oct. 31 after 25 years with the company. Marc Pritchard, 48, now president, strategy, productivity and growth, will succeed Stengel as global marketing officer. The change will be effective on Aug. 1. From that date until his retirement, Stengel will work on special projects and the transition. Both report to Robert McDonald, chief operating officer. “Jim Stengel has reinvigorated P&G's marketing function and strengthened P&G's capability as one of the world's leading brand builders,” said A.G. Lafley, P&G's chairman and chief executive officer.
HARPER IN NGA INDUSTRY RELATIONS
ARLINGTON, Va. — The National Grocers Association has appointed Jessica Harper as its manager of industry and associate member relations. In this role, she will be responsible for all aspects of NGA's associate membership program, including acting as a liaison to the NGA Supplier Advisory Council. Additionally, she will serve as NGA's lead on industry relations issues, including technology standards development and trading partner collaboration. Previously, Harper spent three and a half years with the Grocery Manufacturers Association as a coordinator in the membership and meeting services departments.
