A&P, Pathmark Enter Timing Agreement with FTC

A&P yesterday said that, based on the progress in the Federal Trade Commission’s antitrust investigation of the company’s planned acquisition of Pathmark Stores, the two companies have agreed to give the FTC at least two weeks' notice of their plans to consummate the deal.

MONTVALE, N.J. — A&P here yesterday said that, based on the progress in the Federal Trade Commission’s antitrust investigation of the company’s planned acquisition of Pathmark Stores, the two companies have agreed to give the FTC at least two weeks' notice of their plans to consummate the deal. They also agreed not to give such notice to the FTC before Oct. 5. The two companies previously had agreed not to complete the deal before Sept. 25. Both companies said they are continuing to cooperate with the investigation.
