MONTVALE, N.J. - A&P here on Saturday said it has agreed to sell 19 of its Save-A-Center supermarkets in the New Orleans area to Rouse's Supermarket, an independent based in Thibadoux, La. Terms were not disclosed. The other two Sav-A-Center units are being sold to other buyers, including an independent food retailer, A&P said. The transfer of ownership, in which most current employees of the stores are expected to retain their jobs, will take place over the next six weeks. A&P previously had said it planned to sell the stores to focus on its core market in the Northeast. William Blair & Co. was the financial advisor for A&P in the transaction.
