Albertsons Selling 2 Texas Stores

BOISE, Idaho — Albertsons here has sold two stores in Texas as part of the process of acquiring Lubbock, Texas-based United Supermarkets, the company said.

It has sold stores in Amarillo and Wichita Falls to Lawrence Brothers, Sweetwater, Texas, at the request of the Federal Trade Commission as Albertsons seeks to complete its deal with United. The sale to Lawrence Brothers is scheduled to close in mid-January.

A company spokeswoman told SN Albertsons would not need to divest any additional stores before receiving approval to acquire the 50-store United chain.
