SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The California Grocers Association here on Friday unveiled the next two industry executives to be inducted into its Educational Foundation Hall of Achievement: Miguel Gonzalez, president of Northgate Gonzalez Markets, Anaheim; and Jerry Whitmore, Southern California sales manager for Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream, San Ramon.

"Gonzalez's story is one of an immigrant family fulfilling the American dream through vision, hard work and faith, and Whitmore is an industry icon who's well known for his lifetime of service to the industry," said Ronald Fong, CGA president.

The awards dinner is scheduled for May 27 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Garden Grove.

CGA said its Educational Foundation Hall of Achievement provides an opportunity to recognize individuals whose foresight and dedication have enhanced California's food distribution industry. Proceeds from the awards dinner help fund college scholarship and tuition reimbursement programs, which totaled nearly $400,000 last year.
