METRO REGIONAL LEADERS TO SWAP ASSIGNMENTS
MONTREAL — The respective heads of Metro Inc.'s Ontario and Quebec divisions will exchange duties next year, the retailer here said. Alain Brisebois, currently senior vice president of Metro's Ontario division, has been appointed senior vice president of the Quebec division. Robert Sawyer, currently a senior vice president in Quebec, will assume the same role in the Ontario division. The changes will be effective Jan. 3. “This reorganization will allow the company to better meet the challenges of the competitive food retailing industry,” Metro said.
GIANT FOOD NAMES O'NEILL TO OPERATIONS POST
CARLISLE, Pa. — Giant Food Stores has promoted Bob O'Neill to director of operations and merchandising for District 12, which includes stores in eastern Pennsylvania. In his new role, O'Neill will be responsible for the overall operations and merchandising of 16 stores. He began his career with Giant in 1987 as a produce associate and held several titles, including produce manager, grocery manager, nonperishable manager, assistant store manager and store manager. He most recently served as grocery specialist.
AVON VETERAN KROPF VOTED TO KROGER BOARD
CINCINNATI — Susan Kropf, a former top executive with Avon Products, has been elected to the board of directors of Kroger Co., the retailer here said Monday. Kropf earlier this year retired after a 35-year career at Avon, where she most recently served as president and chief operating officer. Kropf was elected to serve until Kroger's annual meeting in June, where she will stand for reelection, Kroger said. With Kropf's election, the Kroger board has 17 members.
