ARLINGTON, Va. — Food Marketing Institute last week said five new members were elected to the board, and it also named the new members of its officer group, which includes the new chairman and four vice chairmen.

As reported last week in SN, Ric N. Jurgens, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Hy-Vee, was named chairman, and Steven C. Smith, president and CEO of K-VA-T Food Stores, was named immediate past chairman.

The four new vice chairmen are: Gregory Calhoun, president and CEO of Calhoun Food Markets, Montgomery, Ala., chairman of the public affairs committee; William Coyne, president and CEO of Raley's, Sacramento, Calif., chairman of the finance committee; Ed Crenshaw, CEO of Publix Super Markets, Lakeland, Fla., chairman of the industry relations committee; Dave Skogen, owner and chairman of Festival Foods, Onalaska, Wis., chairman of the member services committee.

The other new directors are Mark Batenic, chairman, president and CEO, IGA Inc., Chicago; Rudy Dory, owner, Rudy's Markets, Bend, Ore.; Jerry Garland, president and CEO, Associated Wholesale Grocers, Kansas City, Kan.; David J. Hepfinger, president and CEO, Weis Markets, Sunbury, Pa.; and Dean Peterson, president and CEO, Harmon City, West Valley City, Utah.
