Food Lion expands its pickup service in nine states
The Ahold Delhaize USA-owned grocer now has pickup at 90% of its locations
Food Lion has grown its grocery pickup service to 35 new stores in nine states, the grocer announced Monday.
The service, known as Food Lion To Go, is now available at locations at roughly 90% of the chain’s 10-state operating area, the company said.
The states with new locations include Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. Participating locations are listed on the Food Lion To Go website and Food Lion app, and the grocer is promoting the service by offering customers their first pickup for free.
“We are excited to expand this convenient service to more stores in the Food Lion footprint and support our neighbors, especially during one of the busiest times of the year,” said Evan Harding, Food Lion’s director of digital and eCommerce, in a statement. “With the Food Lion To Go service, we provide our neighbors with the option to shop through the channel they prefer, in-store or online, still ensuring they have access to the freshest groceries at affordable prices.”
The Ahold Delhaize USA-owned chain also completed a $77 million project in August renovating 47 stores in the North Carolina cities of Jacksonville, New Bern, and Greenville. In May, the company spent $50 million renovating 30 stores in the Wilmington, N.C., area.
