DEARBORN, Mich. — Spartan Stores opened its seventh Valu Land price-impact format store here this month, reflecting some changes in the fledgling banner’s signage and decor. The company has also reduced the item count since the concept was first launched. “We continue to learn from these initial investments and are working to fine-tune the concept,” said Dennis Eidson, president and chief executive officer, Spartan Stores, in a recent conference call with investors. The first six Valu Land locations were in the Michigan towns of Lansing, Leslie, Marion, Clare, Roseville and Warren.
