The Exeter store is one of six stores that closed earlier this year when Ahold-owned Stop & Shop exited the state in September. Hannaford said the 65,000-square-foot store is expected to employ 150 when it opens in the spring.
Hannaford has also acquired the lease of a former Stop & Shop in Bedford, N.H., but has not announced plans for that site, reports said.

"We are excited to bring Hannaford's signature combination of low everyday prices, great variety and high-quality fresh foods to Exeter. This new store will create jobs, provide local organizations with a new community partner and make it more convenient for local customers to shop," Eric Blom, a spokesman for Hannaford, said in a statement.
Hannaford is a division of Delhaize America, Salisbury, N.C.
