IGA Retailers to Host Ultimate Tailgate Zone Marketing Event

CHICAGO — The 6th Annual IGA Ultimate Tailgate Zone in-store marketing event will take place at participating IGA retail locations Sept. 2 through Oct. 6. Sponsored by Anheuser-Bush, Campbell Soup Co., Coca-Cola, Kraft, Nabisco, McCormick & Co. and Nestle Purina PetCare, the event is designed to generate additional foot traffic in IGA stores during the football season. As part of the promotion, IGA stores will offer savings on sponsor’s products, as well as chances to win tailgating-themed prize packages. A $25 IGA gift certificate will be awarded to a winner at every store, and a $250 IGA gift certificate and $250 in cash will be presented to 25 winners. A prize package including a barbecue grill, Grill Mates blends, rubs and marinades, and a McCormick hat, shirt, apron and grilling utensils will be received by 25 winners. Seventy-five winners will be awarded Grill Mates blends, rubs and marinades and a McCormick hat, shirt and apron set. The Ultimate Tailgate Zone event is the fourth marketing event in the 2007 IGA Family, Friends & Food marketing program. “We provide IGA retailers with basics they need, and they add local elements to make it more marketable to their specific community and customer base,” said Jim Walz, IGA’s senior director of branding and business development, in a statement. “We see retailers promoting this event through a connection with all manner of football teams, from local high school teams to the NFL.”
