Japanese Chain to Open 9th U.S. Location

TORRANCE, Calif. — Mitsuwa Marketplace, a Japanese-owned operator of eight U.S. stores, is scheduled to open its ninth U.S. store late this year in the Heritage Plaza shopping center in Irvine, Calif.

The store will cover nearly 14,000 square feet and will include Japanese produce, meat, fish and groceries, plus a takeout sushi bar and a food court with Japanese restaurants.

Mitsuwa operates six of its eight stores in Southern California, along with a single unit in Arlington Heights, Ill., near Chicago, and one in Edgewater, N.J.
