The 600,000-square-foot center previously had been run by Atlas Logistics. It is the first Kroger facility that Penske, based in Reading, Pa., operates, although a company spokesman told SN it manages other distribution centers for food and beverage companies.

Penske said it has hired all 816 workers at the facility, including those represented by Teamsters Local 135.

“We’re excited to have earned this new business opportunity and to serve the needs of such a well-respected company like Kroger,” said Penske Logistics President Marc Althen in a statement.
