Lowes Foods will bring the Lowes banner to Georgia via the acquisition of a Foothills IGA Market in Marble Hill, Georgia, according to reporting from Georgia news group Smoke Signals

This would be the first store in the state of Georgia for the Winston-Salem, North Carolina-based Lowes Foods. The sale is expected to finalize in September.

“We’re excited about the possibility of adding another great store location to our company,” said Tim Lowe, Lowes Foods president. “We will have more news to share soon. In the meantime, the store will continue to operate as IGA.”

According to Foothills IGA Market President Jeff Downing: “This potential transaction will provide continued employment for the IGA associates with a great company that has around 15,000 employees. Further, Lowes Foods operates outstanding grocery stores which will serve the Foothills community in an exemplary manner for many years to come.”
