Family-owned Westside said it would occupy 18,871 square feet on two levels at the base of new luxury rental building at 84 Third Ave. at the corner of East 12th Street. Its other four stores are located along the Manhattan’s West Side.

Westside Market specializes in prepared foods, specialty products and catering, in addition to traditional groceries.

“Since the original Westside Market NYC was opened by my father, John, in 1965, we have worked diligently to provide the best supermarket experience to residents along the West Side of Manhattan,” George Zoitas, chief executive officer of Westside Market NYC, said in a statement. “After 48 years, four locations, and many people asking when Westside Market NYC would meet the East Side, we felt that the opportunity with 84 Third Ave. was the perfect introduction for our brand to the other side of Manhattan.”

Currently under construction, the store is expected to be complete early next summer.
