Olsen, Former IGA President, Dies at Age 79

ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. -- A memorial visitation is scheduled here tomorrow for William E. Olsen, a former president of IGA, who died Monday after a long illness.

ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. -- A memorial visitation is scheduled here tomorrow for William E. Olsen, a former president of IGA, who died Monday after a long illness. Olsen was named president of IGA, the Chicago-based network of independent food retailers, in February 1973 and retained the position until he retired in January 1987. He had previously held positions with the National Livestock & Meat Board and with meat supplier John Morrell & Co., his former wife, Jane Olsen, told SN. He is also survived by four children and five grandchildren. A daughter and a brother preceded him in death. A funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday at St. Alphonsus Church, Prospect Heights, Ill. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer‘s Foundation, Skokie, Ill., or Vistas Hospice, Lombard, Ill.
