SHEBOYGAN, Wis. — Piggly Wiggly Midwest here has an agreement to supply three Sendik’s grocery stores in Bayside, Milwaukee and Brookfield, Wis., said Paul Butera, chairman of the grocery wholesaler.
The stores had been supplied by Supervalu. Butera said Piggly Wiggly Midwest will take over store leases as part of the agreement. However, store ownership, along with all of their employees, will remain unchanged. Butera said it is expected eventually the stores will be rebannered under the Piggly Wiggly name.
In addition to their unique products lines, the Sendik’s store will offer the same amenities that all Piggly Wiggly’s throughout Wisconsin offer, including its Pampered to Perfection Produce, an in-store bakery, a full-service customer-friendly deli department, a fresh meat department offering Certified Angus Beef, Gerber Amish Natural Chicken, Farmland Pork along with a wide variety of fresh and frozen seafood and a full liquor department.
“By joining forces with Piggly Wiggly, our customers will notice lower prices throughout the store,” said John Sendik, an owner, in a press statement. He could not be reached for further comment. The wholesaler supplies 102 Piggly Wiggly stores in Wisconsin and northern Illinois.
