SEATTLE — John Runyan, executive advisor to the president and chief executive officer of Unified Grocers, received the Alumni Fellows award from Washburn University, his alma mater, in Topeka, Kan. Runyan was recognized by the university’s School of Business for his career accomplishments with Fleming and AG and his contributions to the entire grocery industry. Runyan was the former president and CEO of Associated Grocers here before its acquisition by Unified in August. According to Al Plamann, president and CEO of Unified, “[John] is a man of integrity, with a great deal of enthusiasm for our business. It is a well-deserved honor.”
