ST. LOUIS - Save-A-Lot, the nation's largest edited-assortment grocery chain, has appointed Mark Goodman executive vice president and chief operating officer.

ST. LOUIS - Save-A-Lot, the nation‘s largest edited-assortment grocery chain, has appointed Mark Goodman executive vice president and chief operating officer. He will be responsible for leading and managing retail operations for Save-A-Lot‘s 1,200 stores and for overseeing the company‘s licensed retail groups, merchandising, vendor management and supply chain efforts. He reports to Bill Shaner, president and chief executive officer. “Mark is a dynamic, hands-on business executive with a track record of building and leading complex global, consumer-driven retail, food and financial services organizations,” Shaner said in a statement. Prior to joining Save-A-Lot, Goodman was executive vice president of marketing, membership and e-commerce for Wal-Mart and Sam‘s Club, Bentonville, Ark. Before that he was corporate vice president, U.S. strategy and operations, at McDonald‘s Corp.
