Tamara Pattison has joined The Save Mart Cos. as senior vice president and chief digital officer, a newly created position at the Western grocer.
Modesto, Calif.-based Save Mart said yesterday that, in the new role, Pattison will oversee the retailer’s emerging digital technologies and e-commerce strategy and drive opportunities for future growth. Most recently, she served as a director at A3Ventures, a Berkeley, Calif.-based innovation lab and capital investment firm, where she was responsible for product development and marketing activation of home and family ventures.
Pattison (pictured left) brings strong experience in product management, digital marketing, loyalty and e-commerce at technology firms and retail grocery, including nearly 10 years at Albertsons/Safeway, Save Mart noted.
“Ongoing digital transformation to serve our shoppers and fulfill their needs with innovative and affordable solutions continues to be at the forefront of our strategic objectives,” Shane Sampson, executive chairman at The Save Mart Cos., said in a statement. “With over 20 years of extensive industry experience building and leading diverse teams to develop innovative programs, Tamara is an accomplished leader, and I am thrilled to have her leading our digital and e-commerce experience.”
Before A3Ventures, Pattison spent more than three years as principal of her own strategic consulting firm and, prior to that, over three years as chief marketing and information officer at alcoholic beverage retailer BevMo!, now part of GoPuff. That followed a range of positions at Albertsons/Safeway, most recently group vice president of loyalty and analytics. She also held various product director posts at Yahoo!, Cairo.com and DemandTec.
Overall, Save Mart operates more than 200 stores in California and Nevada under the banners Save Mart, Lucky/Lucky California, FoodMaxx and MaxxValue.
Save Mart has been active on the e-commerce front recently. Late last week, the grocer said stores in Lathrop and Ceres, Calif., now offer two-hour grocery delivery via Amazon, and plans call for more locations in California’s Central Valley to soon offer the service. And in May, Save Mart expanded curbside pickup service through Instacart to Save Mart and FoodMaxx banner stores in Nevada.
