After rejecting the first offer from Sobeys, workers at Pete’s Frootique in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, approved their first-ever collective agreement, ending a strike which began on Nov. 18, reports CBC news.

Employees, who formed a union in 2022, wanted paid sick leave and a reasonable pay increase, and rejected an offer from Sobeys that included a pay increase of five cents above minimum wage of $15 an hour.

Prior to the settlement demonstrations were scheduled in front of stores across Canada. A national day of action by the union was set to take place on Jan. 6.

Service Employees International Union Local 2 represents the nearly 100 workers and said details of the new deal would be released in the coming days.
