Stop & Shop to Close Regional Offices in Conn., N.J.
QUINCY, Mass. -- Stop & Shop here said it would close its regional support offices in North Haven, Conn., and Edison, N.J., by the end of the year as part of a plan to reorganize into a network of smaller, regional support offices for both Giant Food-Landover and Stop & Shop, a spokeswoman for the Ahold-owned chains told SN yesterday.

QUINCY, Mass. -- Stop & Shop here said it would close its regional support offices in North Haven, Conn., and Edison, N.J., by the end of the year as part of a plan to reorganize into a network of smaller, regional support offices for both Giant Food-Landover and Stop & Shop, a spokeswoman for the Ahold-owned chains told SN yesterday. She declined to specify how many employees would be affected by the transition. The moves are part of a previously disclosed plan to trim $50 million in costs at Stop & Shop and Giant-Landover.
