Stop & Shop touts a century of fresh ideas
Stop & Shop kicked off its 100th anniversary celebration at its headquarters in Quincy, Mass., with a gathering of employees, local leaders and others in the community.

Stop & Shop kicked off its 100th anniversary celebration at its headquarters in Quincy, Mass., with a gathering of employees, local leaders and others in the community.

The company is celebrating “Fresh Ideas for 100 Years” with consumer programs and special offers set to begin May 23. Among the activities and offers that the banner, owned by Amsterdam-based Ahold, has planned:
• Select products in vintage packaging will be available for a limited time;
• A charitable donation effort called “100 Days of Giving,” through which Stop & Shop will donate $1,000 to 100 local non-profit organizations every day from Memorial Day to Labor Day;
• A Summer Concert Series at the Quincy headquarters on Wednesdays from June 4 to Sept. 3.
• A “Fresh Idea Fridays” Facebook recipe contest.
“Since 1914, Stop & Shop’s dedication to innovation has forever changed the way people shop,” the company said in a statement. “Now in its 100th year, the company continues to bring new ideas to its customers.”
