NEW YORK --As part of Target's Countdown Celebration that took place in Time Square here Sunday, the chain distributed 30,000 pairs of 3D glasses, according to published reports. Celebrants sporting the glasses saw the chain's bull's-eye logo in fireworks in the sky and coming out of the famous 1,070-pound ball as it dropped to mark the new year. Several tons of "wordfetti," with goodwill messages including peace, play, cheer, celebrate and hope, were dropped on the estimated 1 million visitors each hour from 7 to 11 p.m.
