NEW YORK -- Tesco USA reportedly has long-range plans to expand its Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market format beyond California, Arizona and Nevada into Colorado, according to a report in Fortune Magazine. The publication said a search of public documents indicated that Tesco had registered the name "Tesco Stores West" in mid-2006 with the Colorado secretary of state -- the same name it registered in California, Nevada and Arizona before deciding to go with the Fresh & Easy banner on the stores. A U.S.-based Tesco spokesman declined comment when contacted by SN, while Fortune quoted a spokesman for the company in the United Kingdom as saying, "We do not plan to open any stores in Colorado in the near future, but we never say never." -- Elliot Zwiebach
