LUBBOCK, Texas — United Supermarkets here said Friday it will unveil a new logo in late July at a remodeled store in Snyder, Texas.

The biggest change in the logo is the addition of a single star at the center of the word "United" — emblematic of the Lone Star State, the company said.

"We are a Texas company, and we've always been inspired by the spirit, independence and self-sufficiency of Texans," Monica Schierbaum, senior director of marketing, said. "We've got small towns in our heart, and we want our stores to reflect the warmth and generosity you find in a small Texas town."

The new logo uses the same typeface for "United," except for the addition of the star; the word "supermarkets," which is printed in all capital letters on the old logo, is printed in all lower-case letters on the new logo.

Snyder is south of Lubbock, in the central part of Texas.
