Fred Meyer President Lynn Gust

Gust, a 1972 graduate of the program, will be honored during FIM's annual graduation banquet on April 30. USC said it presents the award annually to a food industry executive who has shown "extraordinary leadership while producing exceptional business results."

Gust joined Fred Meyer in 1970 as a parcel clerk at a store in Vancouver, Wash. He was named executive vice president, corporate merchandising and advertising, in 2006; vice president of operations in 2011; and president earlier this year.

According to Robert Hermanns, director of the Food Industry Management Program, "Lynn Gust's career growth at Fred Meyer makes him the perfect example and mentor for the year's FIM class."
